Lucas is a talented filmmaker and photojournalist. Ezekiel is a politically inclined STEM major. We share a passion for seeking adventures outside of our comfort zones.
Since we met during recess in 4th grade, we have shared a sense of curiosity and desire for exploration beyond our bubble. Growing up in Chicagoland, we initially had little interaction with conservative folks, and by traveling, we saw that they tend to have infrequent interactions with liberal people. The core of our country’s political polarization is the stubborn assumption that the other side is untrustworthy and cannot be reasoned with. We’ve found that through open-minded and respectful dialogue, the opposite is true. We seek uncomfortable conversations, and through them, aim to show that we are more alike than we are different.
How We Met
Our First Videos
In high school, we made a few short videos together, going on adventures, convincing strangers to jump into Lake Michigan, and running half-marathons.
As we continued collaborating, we thought to ourselves: why stop now? What stories could we tell to have an even greater impact?
America Divided
Throughout high school and our first semester of college, our lives have been at the epicenter of political turmoil and disunity. From the January 6th insurrection to Covid-19 and the Israel-Palestine conflict, the past few years have been even more chaotic than usual. In such a dynamic time, finding common ground is necessary to strengthen our democracy and rebuild the American identity.
